Inspirational Speaker

Lorena Smith is a single mom of five, whose personal transformation and recently diagnosed stage 4 cancer have made her a powerful inspiration. She is a dynamic, heart-centered speaker, author, and musician who brings the room alive with humor, tears and vulnerability. Lorena’s passion to encourage others serves as a reminder that we all have the ability to choose our thoughts, overcome fear and live an authentic life, even in the midst of great challenge. If not now, when?

She is available to speak at your spiritual center, church, conferences, and retreats/workshops.

Lorena served as the Music Director at Unity of Salem in Oregon for 4 years.  In 2014 she left that position to pursue her dream of a traveling ministry.  Whether Lorena is performing an original or a cover, her soothing voice and soulful music will touch and inspire.  She is gifted in using music to open hearts, allowing her messages of empowerment to be heard and absorbed at an even deeper level.

Wedding Ceremony

“Let there be spaces in your togetherness, and let the winds of the heavens dance between you.  Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.” -Kahlil Gibran

Lorena's belief is not that she is there to marry you, but that you are there to marry each other.  Her purpose, as officiant, is to bear legal witness to your union.  Whether the marriage be traditional or nontraditional, in a church or in nature, the important thing is the bond of love between the two of you.  The words of your ceremony will be designed to be an accurate representation of who you are as individuals and as a couple.

Celebration of Life Ceremony

"My life is my message." -Mahatma Gandhi

This kind of service typically takes the place of a more somber funeral.  It is a time for friends and family to gather together to honor, laugh, and share stories of the one who has recently transitioned.  Lorena's gentle, compassionate way will bring comfort to all who attend.

Spiritual Mentoring

Before I had the name for this kind of service, there were one or two key people in my life who helped me get through a very difficult time.  They were able to hold the high watch, which meant they were holding the vision of who I wanted to be, and not focusing on the struggles I was experiencing in the moment.  They didn’t try to fix me or tell me what they thought I should do.  They held the space to allow me to be right where I was, honoring my emotions but not feeding my victimhood.  They knew something at the time that I’ve only come to fully understand recently.  The most loving and effective way to help someone out of the darkness is simply to hold the light.  This is what it means to be a spiritual mentor.

We spend much time and energy resisting change, when the fact is most of life is about change.  Whether small or significant, this human adventure seems to be a journey of moving through one transition into another.  The quality of our happiness is determined by how well we learn to navigate those changes, and one of the biggest blocks in navigating change is how we’ve learned to deal with our emotions.  Denying, repressing, or judging them will stunt our growth and leave us stuck in the past.  Acknowledging and honoring all of our emotions will free us to accept life exactly as it is, which allows us to keep moving forward.  Once we understand that our external reality is a reflection of our internal thoughts and emotions, this process takes on a new importance.

So why would you want to have a spiritual mentor?  Is there some aspect of your life you want to change or improve? Are you feeling a bit stuck, unsure of what to do next?  Are you simply going through the motions of day-to-day life but not thriving as you’d like to be?  Are you easily irritable and short-tempered with those you love the most?  Do you keep experiencing the same unfulfilling experiences or relationships?

As your Spiritual Mentor, I do not diagnose medical disorders or provide clinical counseling.  I am here to offer guidance and support as you walk the path of shifting perspectives.  My office is a “cocoon of possibility”, a cozy, nonjudgmental space where someone going through a transition or looking to make a shift in life can safely explore his/her internal world.  I have been gifted with the unique ability to ask questions you might not think to ask yourself, uncovering hidden beliefs and thought patterns that are no longer serving your highest good.  We all have the answers we seek inside, but sometimes it’s helpful to have a little guidance to assist in the process of revealing those answers.
